Final Post

Brendan Abels Narrative piece is very consistent to A visitors guide to London with the concept of the images and how the relate to the narrative of that particular piece. The stroll through the park with the different images that are around the US give it a comical side along with the characters. All of the character throughout the project relate to the places they see. I like the way the group kept the same theme and it is very easy to see where the ideas came from. The Siberian Deal Project also has some relevance to the group's ideas. The texture of the scene and characters also has the same aspect of Brendan Abel's Self Portrait.

Shredder 1.0

The Shredder 1.0 website was created by Mark Napier in 1998. The title of the author's work does exactly what it does. The images have a look and feel of what's really the internet and how it is seen from a design stand point. I believe that this site can give people the "shredded guts" of the internet. I'm actually amazed at how this is viewed only because I never viewed the web like this before. Very creative and very realistic. It's not what you would expect from the internet medium but in a way it is. Being able to view what the web page will look like after being put in the shredder is a great idea and done with skill. The way the shredder 1.0 gives the sites a different look and appeal the people who have no idea how the internet is used and created is a great way to spread the word.

Korea Web Arts Festival

The project has a collaboration of many different projects that are extremely busy but in a way it works with everything that the site trying to accomplish. The way that all of these authors and their projects are being displayed is like a battle for the best. In boogie woogie wonderland's A Candy factory with the image of the disney character kept my attention the most and not want to turn it off. Almost every child of any race or nationality adores Disney movies and characters.

Identity and Sexuality

My Boyfriend Came Back from the War by Olia Lialina
This piece is actually very interesting and a lot of people can relate to it. The way that the images look like film negatives can keep the connection with the situation being negative. I feel like I'm in the same boat with the author and having to confess to her boyfriend the things that are happening. My relationship is semi-long distance and it would be a dark dark day if my boyfriend were to ever come home and find out anything that wasn't like he left it. Even though the text and conversations are cut short, every bit of the situation is clear and understandable. The author may or may not be using a situation that she has encountered but it seems so realistic. The way the everything is detailed from the graphics and the text, the project has a very valuable meaning to it

Boogie Woogie Wonderland influence

In Boogie Woogie Wonderland, A Candy Factory Project is one of the influences of my final project (Collaborative Narrative)based on the fact that the focus is one characters that have been around in mine and others childhood. The use of characters in a sense of creating an imaginary place that keeps your mind always going back to the one place that makes us happy and feel like a child again. I believe in the use of a make believe character that will keep almost anyone interested and wanting to see more and make it all the way to the end. Characters are also kind of like alter egos that come out.

Visitors guide to London.
In A Visitor's guide to London I love how the author has created these images to create important places in London that stand out. I have never been to London before but every time I see the city on television or in pictures, the city always looks gloomy and cold. I get the same feeling when I see the images. The letter that clicks and proceeds to the next page had me a little confused at first but after I went through it I figured it out. The way that the images have a dark filter to them keeps the person visiting curious to what is going to happen next.

Ben Benjamin. Superbad. 1997.
This particular piece of the website made me stop and look at the images that were coming up on the screen. Smokers is what the page is describing and it breaks down a certain type of person and there smoking habits. Me being a smoker, it makes perfect sense to me what the artist is trying to accomplish. The people look as if they have their photos taken and had them filter in black and white and gray and it reminds me of being around a cigarette smoker or in a room filled with smoke. The artist also put up user profiles along with the type of cigarettes they smoke. The profiles along with the cigs that these people smoke were dead on. I love how he has a scrolling marquee at the bottom and having a pop up of the profiles.
